Amazon A+ Content: The Brand Story Video That Converts (Not Just a Longer Cut of the Carousel)

The most common mistake on A+ content isn't technical — it's reusing the main carousel video as-is, just stretched out in length. The two placements exist to convince visitors at completely different moments of the buying journey, and a script built for one almost always underperforms on the other.

What A+ video content is

A+ content (also called Brand Story or Enhanced Brand Content) sits further down the product page, in the detailed description section. Unlike the carousel thumbnail, it's only seen by a visitor who has already scrolled down the page — someone interested, but not yet decided. This format requires enrollment in Amazon Brand Registry to be published.

Brand Registry doesn't stop you from generating the video, only from publishing it. You can create and download A+ content without being enrolled — useful for preparing content while enrollment is still being approved.

The upper limit of 300 seconds doesn't mean you should aim for that length — it's a technical cap, not a target. 30 seconds is plenty to develop a benefit or address an objection without losing the attention of a visitor who's already stopped scrolling fast.

What works in practice: one benefit or one objection, not both

The carousel has to hook in a single frame; the A+ has time to develop one idea in depth. The two angles that work best in this placement:

  • Detailed benefit — show the concrete result in a real usage context, with enough time to justify why it's true (not just claim it).
  • Objection addressed — material, care, compatibility: whatever holds back a hesitant buyer right before purchase, demonstrated rather than promised.
The risk specific to this format: more time to talk means more chances to cross the line into an unproven claim. The voiceover on an A+ video must never state anything that contradicts or goes beyond the product listing — the same rejection reason (absolute claims) applies to both placements, but a 30-second script statistically has more opportunities to fall into it than a 15-second hook.

Compliance rules stay the same

There's no separate set of moderation rules specific to A+ — the rejection reasons are the same ones that apply across the whole Amazon listing (price, urgency, outbound links, health claims, unverifiable rankings...), covered in detail in the complete guide to Amazon rejection reasons. What changes with A+ is only the risk of falling into one without noticing, not the list itself.

FAQ

Is A+ video content mandatory?

No, but leaving it out isn't neutral: it's an extra conversion space that stays empty if no one fills it. The conversion lift it brings is incremental, not dramatic — it adds to what the carousel already delivers, it doesn't replace it.

Can you reuse the main carousel script?

Technically yes, but it's rarely the right call: a 15-second hook built to stop the scroll doesn't develop anything, and a visitor who's already clicked down to the A+ section expects more than a repeat of what they just saw.

Do you need captions on an A+ video?

Yes — like the main carousel, this format plays muted and autoplays by default on the listing page.
